Waste management

Excavation waste is generated mainly by the Group's exploitation branches (including waste with EWC code 01 01 02) and the Geology and Exploration Branch in the process of drilling exploration boreholes (drilling muds and wastes with EWC code 01 05 08, 01 05 07 and, sporadically, 01 05 05*). Drilled cuttings are separated from drilling fluids on vibrating screens and in other separating devices, including sand and mud traps. Solid wastes are generated when drilling fluids are replaced for technical reasons or when drilling is completed. Excavation wastes also include process water mixed with drilling fluids, cement slurry residues and fluids from mining operations.

A large portion of the wastes generated by PGNiG Capital Group companies (excluding excavation and municipal wastes) belongs to waste group 17 (waste from the construction, renovation and demolition of buildings and roads, excluding soil from contaminated sites), 5 (waste from crude oil processing, gas treatment and coal pyrolysis), 16 (waste not classified elsewhere), 15 (packaging waste, sorbents, wiping fabric, filter fabric and protective clothing not classified elsewhere), 13 (spent oil and liquid fuel waste, excluding edible oils and group 5, 12 and 19 wastes) and 12 (waste from physical and mechanical processing of metals and plastics).
