PGNiG Norway owns 11.9175% of the Skarv development project, offshore Mid Norway.
The Skarv Unit fields are located in the Norwegian Sea, ca. 200 km west of Sandnessjøen, between the Norne field (35 km to the north) and Heidrun (45 km to the south) in water depths between 350 and 450 metres.
The project is operated by BP (23.835%) with Statoil (36.165%) and E.ON Ruhrgas (28.0825%) as partners.
The development project, comprising the Skarv and Idun discoveries, contains 429 million barrels of oil equivalents (based on the latest data from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate).
The reserves will be developed using five subsea templates tied back to a floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. The FPSO is currently under construction, and subsea work commenced in 2008.
First production is scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2011.
Oil and condensate will be offshore loaded and exported with shuttle tankers. Rich gas will be transported via a new-built pipeline to the Åsgard Transportation System and onwards to the Kårstø terminal.
There are additional identified resources and prospectivity in the Skarv area. These can be developed as tiebacks to the Skarv FPSO when gas processing and export capacity opens up. Flexibility has been designed into the Skarv FPSO and subsea production systems for this purpose.
